现任中山大学医学院副教授,博士生导师,独立课题组长,学术带头人。获兰州大学学士和硕士学位、德国耶拿大学博士学位;曾任中国科学院遗传与发育生物学研究所研究实习员、德国莱布尼兹研究院衰老研究所博士后;2017年获聘中山大学“百人计划”引进人才。
周忠卫博士课题组长期利用细胞和转基因动物模型,从事神经干细胞的命运调控与大脑皮层发育及相关疾病致病机理的研究。在Nature Cell Biology、Cell Stem Cell、Cell Research、Nucleic Acids Research、Molecular Cell、The EMBO Journal、Nature Communications等多种国际学术期刊上以第一、通讯或共同作者身份发表SCI论文30多篇,累计影响因子近400分, H-index为20;申请/授权专利4项。近5年获国家自然科学基金(主持1项)、广东省自然科学基金(主持2项,参与重大1项)、深圳市科创委基金(主持2项,参与重点1项,参与重点实验室建设1项)、中山大学百人计划启动基金等支持。
主要研究领域包括(但不限于):
1.神经干细胞命运的表观遗传及转录后调控与大脑皮层发育;
2.神经发育障碍性疾病、发育源性神经退行性病变的致病机理;
3.生物大分子损伤累积与肿瘤和衰老;
4.铁死亡的生理与病理作用,等。
